E-cigarettes have been around for a few years now. And as they become more popular new ideas about how to use them continue to emerge. One of those new ideas was created by electronic cigarette company Blu Cigs. Over the last two years Blu Cigs has made quite a name for itself. As a matter of fact, they have raked in over $30 million in sales so far this year. That’s how popular they have become.
According to company president Jason Healy, those who smoke e cigs are very proud of the product. He says e cig smokers want a community where they can easily identify one another. And that is how the company came up with the idea to have a blue light up tip on the end of their e cigarettes. But that is not the only thing that sets them apart. What really sets them apart is how they have dove into the world of social media.
The Blu Cig e cigarette packs also have a wi-fi option. When you are smoking near another Blu Cig smoker, the blue light will flash and the pack with vibrate. When it does that you know someone is close by. But Blue Cig isn’t stopping there. They a literally trying to change the game when it comes to electronic cigarettes.
Next year they will integrate a system that will allow you to plug your e cig pack into a computer and get information about all the users you have come in contact with. Healey says they just want to keep growing and taking things to the next stage. He said next the e cig pack will talk to your phone. That’s right, eventually e cigarettes will be able to send information via your phone. And as technology continues to expand, so will the ideas coming out of the Blu Cig brand.
Larken Egleston is a social media consultant who believes Blu Cigs is on to something. However, there is still the issue of safety. Not enough testing has been done of e cigarettes to determine how safe or effective they are in helping people stop smoking. Because of this health officials all over are trying to ban the devices from being sold.
But that’s not stopping Blu Cigs. They have no plans of slowing down anytime soon. As a matter of fact, the company plans to go international next year and bring in about $65 million in sales. Not bad for a company that is based in a warehouse and started with a $50,000 investment.
