Saudi Arabia's statement at the General Assembly special session for Pakistan Floods
In the name of God the Beneficent the Merciful
Mr. President, Excellencies:
I am pleased to extend to Your Excellency my gratitude and appreciation for dedicating this General Assembly’s session to Humanitarian Relief for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Mr. President, Excellencies:
At the outset, I would like to convey our most heartfelt condolences to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s government and people to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s government and people; and we affirm the Kingdom’s full standing and solidarity with Pakistan.
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is experiencing the worst flood disaster ever, where the damage and the displacement of more than (20) million people took place as the gravest humanitarian disaster Pakistan experiences in nowadays. The flood has destroyed vast areas of agricultural land; roads, bridges, houses and schools collapsed

Saudi Arabia's Humanitarian Efforts
Recently, the Kingdom donated $50 million to United Nations Relief Program for Haiti and gave $500 million to the UN World Food Program in 2008 to combat the global food crisis. Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon called it a "contribution of an unprecedented size and generosity" and that it came "not a moment too soon, given the needs of millions of people dependent on food rations," according to a spokesman.

In the presence of this gathering of international leaders and representatives and members of the General Assembly- the conscience of the United Nations — arid in front of the whole world, we state with a unified voice that religions through which Almighty God sought to bring happiness to mankind should not be turned into instruments to cause misery.
